SCS joins Supplybase.au

26th February 2007

SCS joins Supplybase at the AOG Perth Australia

Solent Composite Systems Ltd based in East Cowes of Wight attended the AOG in Perth Australia in February 2007 and marked the occasion by joining Supplybase VRS™ an Internet-based Supplier Registration System conceived and developed through the Australian Competitive Energy (ACE) initiative of APPEA.

Supplybase is a response to the needs of the Australian Oil & Gas industry to encourage greater local participation in major projects, and from the desire of major oil and gas project operators to streamline their procurement process. The development cost was underwritten by major operators including Woodside, Chevron Texaco, and Apache.

Supplybase is now in its 4th year of operation and is the only industry-endorsed Supplier Registry specifically designed for the Australian Oil & Gas Industry.

Supplybase is an online two-way communication channel between Operators and Vendors. It facilitates information sharing to make the procurement process more efficient and to maximise the opportunities for Australian companies to participate in major resource projects.
Before Supplybase, each of the major Operators was maintaining their own independent supplier registers. These required a significant effort to maintain, and were often incomplete and out of date. Meanwhile, Vendors were continually being asked to supply the same information over and over again to each Operator - especially in the pre-qualification of project opportunities.

In today’s market where energy resources are increasingly critical, SCS has been playing a partnership role in assisting all energy producers – oil, gas, wind and tidal to improve performance whilst reducing costs and in so doing accelerate the attractiveness of composites as a sustainable engineered solutions for energy sources worldwide.

SCS main energy focus is in the burgeoning offshore oil and gas sector, where it provides a portfolio of high performance composite products, including ProTek™ passive fire and blast restraint systems, which provide a complete solution to jet fire, blast, thermal insulation and sound attenuation at extremely attractive life cost.

The ProTek™ system has been widely accepted in the North Sea where over 500 installations have been commissioned over the last 15 years. Woodside specified ProTek™ for ESDVs and actuator protection on their Laminaria FPSO, which has already seen many years service, without need for maintenance

The philosophy of high performance composite engineering in a very demanding environment has helped SCS develop systems with world class safety and quality that fully satisfy these most stringent requirements.

SCS holds the Norwegian Achilles JQS and FPAL registration has ISO9001 and is working towards ISO 14001and OHAS 18001 – both expected early in 2007.
