Solent Composite Systems appoints MSS as strategic alliance partner in Norway.
Solent Composite Systems Ltd (SCS) manufacturer of ProTek™ passive fire and blast protection has appointed Module System Services (MSS) as its strategic alliance partner to represent SCS interests on the Norwegian Continental shelf.
In announcing this appointment Huw Radley MD of SCS said:
“We are delighted to partner with the MSS team and I am very confident that MSS will bring a greatly improved level of service to our customers in Norway. Being based in Sandnes close to Stavanger, we expect that MSS will give our customers a high level of added value in service and support. MSS wide experience in the offshore business and knowledge of valued added composites materials will enable us to grow rapidly together”
The SCS ProTek™ system meets all current requirements for jet-fire, pool fire and blast protection. ProTek™ enclosures are typically used for ESDV/actuator protection and must withstand extreme climatic conditions. The high insulation properties of the ProTek™ system ensures minimum temperature rise, thus providing essential functional integrity of the equipment or hazard zone. In addition ProTek™ delivers sound attenuation up to 38Db according to NORSOK R-004.
Recently Statoil specified ProTek™ for the Norne FPSO and the Snøhvit LNG plant in Hammerfest. Hydro used the ProTek™ system for the protection of blow-down accumulators at the new Ormen Lange plant in Nyhamna. Both these new plants will provide gas to the UK and Europe.
The flexible design of the ProTek™ system allows penetrations of cables and pipes, without compromise to clashes with existing equipment. The ProTek™ enclosures are designed with low weight access panels for easy equipment maintenance and rapid low cost installation. ProTek™ has a major lifecycle cost advantage over traditionally used soft jacket or spray up systems which tend to deteriorate in the environment, and thus have a higher lifetime cost than ProTek™ composite enclosures.
ProTek™ is manufactured from an advanced composite panel system which is lightweight and has wide design versatility. Being virtually inert, there is zero corrosion risk and outstanding weather resistance, thus offering maintenance
free life for at least 30 years. In addition ProTek™ does not contribute to water or air pollution. DNV have certified the SCS design methodology for fire and blast against leading Operator specifications
In addition to ESDV/actuator protection ProTek™ is used for fire and blast walls, marine fire partitions, sound attenuation, underdeck/splashzone, turret and flexible riser passive fire protection as well sub-sea structures and encapsulations. In refurbishment projects no hot-work is required for installation- another key cost reduction benefit.
SCS has a 15 year proven track record of providing engineered composite solutions to the energy industry – not only offshore oil and gas, but wind and tidal stream. SCS energy industry expertise coupled with world class Quality, Health and Safety standards, enables it to take on major projects and take them thorough to timely and cost effective completion
SCS has Achilles JQS and FPAL registration and recently was awarded ISO 14001- Environmental and OHSAS 18001-Health& Safety, in addition to ISO 9001-Quality, certified by DNV as an Integrated Management System.
