SCS launch SmartMould™ System

Solent Composite Systems Ltd a recent new venture wind energy tier one supplier based on the Isle of Wight launches its new SmartMould system for the manufacture of moulds for rotor blades. SmartMould™ and the related RBMS™ will feature on the Company's stand F27 at the EWEC November 22-25th held at the Wembley Conference & Exhibition Centre, London.
Solent Composite Systems integrated SmartMould™ approach offers turbine manufactures a tailor made, cost-effective rotor blade mould system using optimum design, bespoke materials and the most efficient manufacturing process. Drawing on its extensive knowledge base SCS offers an unrivalled service for mould engineering and blade component manufacture.
SCS supply mould packages as turnkey manufacturing systems designed for repeated daily process cycles with the minimum of maintenance downtime. The SmartMould™ approach considers the blade shape, finish, structure, material and manufacturing process, working in tandem with the turbine blade design engineers, and processing professionals to develop an integrated specification for the Rotor Blade Manufacturing System (RBMS™), that delivers optimum output, consistent high quality and long service life.
The SCS RBMS™ integrated and iterative approach ensures the rotor blade manufacturer is provided with a durable operating system that meets all required performance and safety criteria. Blade manufacturing costs are reduced by minimising after finishing, waste and downtime whilst maximising output and reducing labour input. The SCS SmartMould™ approach anticipates the increasing challenges faced by today's wind energy industry. The RBMS™ delivers a fully integrated solution for manufacturing high performance competitive rotor blades that meet the needs of the evolving turbine market.
As managing director Huw Radley pointed out when acquiring SCS, earlier this year the true assets of a company comprise more than hardware. At Solent Composites the value is largely centred on the intellectual property- knowledge based engineering and practical manufacturing know how that enables SCS to take on major projects and expedite timely and cost effective completion - a vital factor in the wind business.
